At his wife’s insistence, he agrees to guide a young blind woman in a running race, which creates a strange tension between them.”Inspired by the true story of Niloofar Hamedi, a journalist who reported the death of Mahsa Amini in 2022—a pivotal event that sparked the hijab protests in Iran. This play was written and directed in 2023 by Iranian playwright and director Amir Reza Koohestani, invited from the Avignon Festival, Berlinale, and other prestigious European festivals. Amir presents his acclaimed work on the Sync Next stage for its Asian premiere. Amir Reza Koohestani Recognized as a key figure in contemporary documentary theatre, Koohestani originally started in film. He gained international recognition with his play Dance on Glasses (2001), which has been staged at major European theater festivals with Mehr Theatre Group. He writes scripts that often draw from true stories and reflect the social climate of his own country, Iran. His plays enhance the possibilities of theatrical narrative on a minimalist stage, allowing the audience’s gaze to move freely between the actor’s body and the projected image.
